What have you done for your vagina today?

Yes, you heard me right. How much time do we spend keeping our hair, our skin, our nails healthy?

As women, we are constantly reminded to work out to keep out muscles toned, and to moisturize and use sun block to keep our skin from wrinkling. Why isn’t anyone talking about what we need to do to keep our vaginas from drying out? I know it sounds funny, but severe vaginal dryness – from menopause, from childbirth, from illness – is a common and very upsetting problem. No one told me what to do about it, but I figured it out.

After years of running my own cosmetics manufacturing company, I knew something about natural ingredients. So when I went into early menopause and suffered the side-effect of severe vaginal dryness, I used what I knew to find my own cure. Luckily, I was able to do this for myself. And then I started sharing it with other women. I wasn’t surprised that it worked for them, but what I was surprised by is how much women want to speak to me about their vaginal discomfort. And I’m glad they are talking, because we need to start talking about this in the same open and I-won’t-go-down-without-a-fight way we discuss our beauty issues. We’ve worked hard to stay looking young, and now it’s time to take care of the part of ourselves that keeps us actually feeling young.

As we get older, we have to moisturize our vaginas. No one’s talking about it, but it’s time to start.
