For those of you who are of the Jewish faith, this starts our New Year with Rosh Hashanah followed by Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. This is one of my favorite times of the year. I reflect on my life from the past year and look forward to making a difference in the coming year. I feel very lucky to have both my parents, who are well into their mid and late 90’s, along with my children and grandchildren. We all celebrate together by breaking our 24 hour fast. I look around and truly feel blessed.
This morning, as always, I walked my adorable little dog Maxie, and noticed that the trees are now changing color. The days are shorter and the mornings are much cooler. With this change in weather comes a change in our skin. Less humidity makes my skin a little dry and itchy. The last thing I want to do is aggravate that by using soaps that contain high levels of Surfactant.
You know that uncomfortably tight feeling your face has after cleansing? Well that is not good. It is the Surfactant residue left on your face that causes that feeling. The tighter your face feels, the more Surfactant was left behind. This tightness can be the first sign that repeated use could lead to severe irritation, scaling or flaking.
That is why I never use soap as a cleanser; instead I use the VRC wash. Aside from being a terrific cleanser, it also leaves my body feeling silky and hydrated. That is because it does not contain the Surfactants that soap does.
One of the secrets that I my mother gave me about skincare was to always use pure shea oil to moisturize after a shower or bath. This keeps my skin soft and the oil absorbs right into the tissue. The same is true for the Vaginal Renewal Complex, since it contains pure shea oil, it absorbs into the walls of your vagina as well.
I had a wonderful conversation with one of our users the other day. This was her second time ordering and she was so thrilled. She said, “my vagina use to feel like the Mojobi desert, but after one month, I am starting to feel like a woman again”. Great line, thanks B.H. When I hear comments like that, I know that my mission is not in vain.
This last year, I have met so many terrific women, who are also working to make a difference for other women; whether they are writing books, blogging, selling special clothing for night sweats, teaching women how to exercise differently as they age, and developing treatments to make menopause or related symptoms easier and more comfortable. Let’s not forget the “Hot Flash Mob”, we danced in the middle of Manhattan, strangers, and we all embraced each other.
