Shea Butter, The Karite Tree and Your Youthful Skin

Karite Tree BranchThis change of season is brutal on our skin. Ladies, this is the time of year I remind you to moisturize from head to toe — but with oil, not lotion. Lotion is water-based. Use pure oil (I like shea oil) after the shower, and let it absorb before putting on your clothes. And don’t forget your feet!

Shea butter has been used for centuries for its unsurpassed ability to protect and regenerate the skin. It comes from the nut of the Karite (ka-ree-tay) tree, which grows throughout West Africa. The Karite nut is edible and contains 1-3 seeds surrounded by a thin brittle hull. The creamy substance, known as shea butter, is produced from these seeds.

Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii) is obtained by cold pressing of the fruits (seeds) of the karite tree followed by a full refining process. During the pressing of the butter, a liquid fraction appears as SHEA OIL which offers an exceptional skin feel. Shea is well known to assist cutaneous dryness, dermatitis and dermatoses, eczema, solar erythema and burns.

It works the same way internally.  Our vaginas need to be lubricated in order to allow our skin to have the same elasticity and suppleness. When we first began formulating the Vaginal Renewal Complex, we did so with Shea oil in mind. VRC is a blend of natural oils developed to enhance a women’s genital health and comfort.  Vaginal Renewal Complex consists of four natural and essential ingredients that act synergistically to enhance vaginal health and comfort.  Unlike other products on the market such as vaginal lubricants, which temporarily coat the vaginal lining, Vaginal Renewal Complex is absorbed by the cells of the vagina.
